Pediatric SLPA Jobs in Metro Vancouver

We’re looking for a caring, enthusiastic Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our team at our clinics in Burnaby and Richmond, serving families across Metro Vancouver. If you love working with kids and want to help them communicate, connect and thrive, we’d love to hear from you.

At Little Buddies, our Speech-Language Pathologists use play-based, neuro-affirming approaches that follow each child’s lead. We support every way a child communicates, whether that’s speech, gestures, signs, pictures or AAC. As an SLPA, you’ll help bring each child’s therapy plan to life.

About the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Role

As a Pediatric SLPA, you’ll work directly with children 1:1 and in small groups, carrying out the intervention plans created by our Speech-Language Pathologists. You’ll work under the supervision of the treating SLP, in the clinic, in the community or virtually.

Our SLPs assign your clients and provide training, mentorship and supervision along the way. You’ll be part of a collaborative team of SLPs, Occupational Therapists, therapy assistants and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and group-based therapy under the supervision of the treating Speech-Language Pathologist, in the clinic, in the community or virtually
  • Create materials for children’s therapy programs, like visuals to guide home practice
  • Keep accurate documentation, including progress notes, in line with regulatory standards and best practices
  • Work with our therapy assistants, volunteers and support staff to keep clinic materials clean and organized
  • Complete regular maintenance checks on clinic equipment and supplies, and make repairs when needed

Qualifications

  • A Therapy or Rehabilitation Assistant diploma or certificate, or relevant training and experience
  • Experience using therapeutic techniques, assistive devices and adaptive strategies
  • The ability to keep detailed client records that follow the ethical and legal standards of practice set by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with children, families and our team
  • A high level of fluency in spoken and written English
  • A current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check, updated every five years

Working Environment

This is a hands-on, physically active role working with children aged 1 to 19 with a range of developmental and communication needs. The role involves:

  • Delivering five to six 45-minute sessions a day, often moving quickly with clients
  • Standing, bending and lifting 20 to 30 lbs several times an hour
  • Responding quickly and safely when a child needs physical support
  • Supporting children with developmental disabilities and histories of trauma with patience, care and emotional resilience

Ready to Apply?

If you’re a therapy or rehab assistant who’s passionate about helping kids communicate and connect, we’d love to meet you. We offer full-time, part-time and contract positions at both our Burnaby and Richmond clinics.
