Pediatric Occupational Therapy in Vancouver

Assessment options

We recommend that all new clients begin with an assessment from which realistic, meaningful goals for treatment can be developed in collaboration with your family. Below are two options that are available:

1) A Comprehensive OT assessment to provide the therapist and family with an understanding of the child’s current overall development. The assessment will identify a child’s current strengths and challenges affecting their ability to fully participate in their everyday activities. Some of the areas assessed may include:

  • Gross motor skills (e.g. muscle tone, endurance, bilateral coordination and sequencing, joint stability)
  • Motor planning and ideation
  • Fine motor skills (e.g. in-hand manipulation, pincer/tripod grasp, finger isolation)
  • Visual perception
  • Sensory processing and modulation
  • Written output

Included:

  • Free initial phone call with an occupational therapist to discuss parent/teacher concerns.
  • Pre-assessment preparation for an OT to review completed Little Buddies Caregiver Questionnaire and other reports.
  • A 3 hour assessment which can be completed on two separate sessions (1.5 hours per session).
  • A report with a detailed review of the assessment results and observations and recommendations for school and home.
  • Follow-up phone/skype consultation with parent and/or teacher to review report.
